Our HESE greenhouse team is ready to rock East Africa this summer! Amy, Ari and Shruthi arrived in Kenya on Saturday, May 12th. Min arrives on Monday, May 14th, while Dani arrives on the 22nd. After a short night’s sleep (and several jet lagged conversations) last night, we were all up and ready to go this morning. Following a traditional breakfast near our Hotel Terminal, we headed to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Nairobi Giraffe Manor. We had an opportunity to observe the feeding of the elephants at the orphanage and we ourselves got a chance to feed the giraffes (and get showered with kisses in return). After a short lunch at the Java Cafe, most of the team headed to Nyeri by bus. Shruthi has stayed back in Nairobi to work with Dr. Kamau on establishing the final design to be disseminated at workshops and to finalize a plan for the mass manufacturing units! Min will be joining her in this process once he gets to Nairobi tomorrow. The website and blog are all set up and we can’t wait to get started with our responsibilities this summer!
